Call for Papers - Special JPM Issue: Prediction Markets in the United States

Overview: Prediction markets are having a moment in the United States. With multiple on-going lawsuits and potential regulatory oversight at the federal level, prediction markets are inching closer to widespread availability—legally—in the USA. This special issue aims to capture the USA-specific movement of prediction markets from a multidisciplinary perspective that cuts across academic specialties.

Submissions Close: January 15, 2026
Anticipated Special Issue Publication Date: Late 2026
Article Types: The special issue will consider two types of articles for inclusion: (i)
+/- 1,500 word essays on specific topics surrounding prediction markets in the United States and (ii) 3,000-10,000 word articles on prediction market topics that are USA- relevant. While any disciplinary approach/methodology is potentially acceptable, all submitted articles must conform to the author guidelines for the Journal of Prediction Markets.
Submission Information: All submitted articles shall be subject to ‘fast track’ peer review. Submitted articles must not have been previously published, nor should they be under consideration for publication anywhere else while under review for this special issue. There are no author submission fees. Submissions will be considered on a rolling basis until the special issue is filled. All submissions must be made via the Journal of Prediction Markets website.
